Ethan is one month old today.
Crazy!
It seems like he has been with us forever but at the same time only mere seconds. One month sounds so short but feels so long. Is this what people mean when time flies by? One month ago, right now, I had been a father for only 4 hours. Now a month has gone by. Almost 750 hours have past. Just a blink.

When will the next blink be? When he is crawling?

Walking?
*Blink*
Will it be when he gets his first boo-boo when trying to learn how to ride a bike?

Getting his drivers license?
*Blink*
The day he will leave his father and mother to cleave to his wife?
As I look into his eyes right now and I see need. Want. Desperation for comfort. To be held. Unaware of the world outside the arms of his mother and father. Unaware of the conflict in Egypt. Unconcerned about the housing slump. Oblivious to the stock market fluctuations. All he knows of is eat, poop, and sleep.
Sleep my child.
I will protect you from this world.
I will be here next to you when you cry.
Pinch your cheeks because they need it.
I will love you.
Even if you don't understand right now.
